The trend of robot-assisted surgery is on the rise

The healthcare sector has seen numerous digital innovations, including assistive robotic technology for surgeries. This technology, driven by improved patient outcomes and the enthusiasm of Indian robotic surgeons, uses hand movements to guide the robot in making tiny incisions.

The robot offers magnified vision, multiple arms with full rotation, and eliminates the need for blood transfusions. The advantages include better outcomes, high precision, fast recovery, and lower pain levels. The growing community of passionate Indian robotic surgeons is also driving this adoption.

Currently, robotic equipment costs are higher than routine surgeries, but it offers numerous benefits such as immediate discharge after major complex surgery, allowing patients to return to work without losing pay, and allowing patients to return to work. Dr Sunita Samal, Laparoscpic and Robotic surgeon from Apollo Womens Hospitals Chennai said “With the precision and dexterity of robotic systems, gynecologists can achieve superior outcomes, reduced complications, and shorter recovery times for patients.” Adding  to that Dr Sudeepta Kumar Swain, Consultant, Robotic Gastrointestinal Surgeon Apollo Hospitals Chennai, said “The use of robots in the surgical procedure not only enables surgeons perform complex tasks that can be difficult with other methods but also makes the operation more efficient, faster and in the long run cost  effective.”
