Actor Amitabh Bachchan has demanded legal action after a deepfake video of Rashmika Mandanna went viral on social media. In the video, a woman dressed in black can be seen entering the elevator. However, her face is morphed and edited in such a way that it resembles the actress. Several users on the internet claimed that the video was fake, raising questions about how “unreliable” information is spreading rapidly on the internet. Mr Bachchan reposted the video and said “Yes this is a strong case for the law. “
The woman in the original video is Zara Patel, a British-Indian woman who has a huge following on social media. Ms. Patel uploaded the video on October 9. If one watches the video, it is extremely difficult to find the edited version of Ms. Mandanna and so it makes it easy for social media users. But on closer observation, one can notice that when the woman enters the elevator, her face suddenly changes to that of the ‘Goodbye’ actress.
Rashmika Mandanna is yet to respond to this issue.
Meanwhile, many people were shocked to see the matter and demanded action from the authorities.
