The All India K-Pop Contest 2024 regional round brought vibrant energy to Kohima as music enthusiasts gathered at Hotel Japfu. The event, which was the second regional round of the contest, featured 20 participants selected from 225 registrations.In a thrilling competition, Kechangulie Theunuo clinched the top prize in the Dance category with a dynamic performance of ‘Lalisa’ by Lisa, while Nuu Anu won the Vocal category with a soulful rendition of ‘When This Rain Stops’ by Wendy. Both winners will advance to the semi-finals in New Delhi on October 19, 2024.
The Kohima market, known for its cultural vibrancy, saw a significant turnout for this event, reflecting the local community’s enthusiasm for K-Pop. The regional round also showcased other standout performances, including The Ace, who secured first runners-up in Dance, and Esther Toppo, who was the first runners-up in the Vocal category.With Bengaluru already hosting the first regional round, the contest will next move to Kolkata on August 3, continuing its journey across India.
The grand finale, scheduled for November 23, 2024, at New Delhi’s Yashobhoomi, promises to be a grand event with winners gaining an opportunity to visit Korea.Hwang Il Yong, Director of Korean Cultural Centre India, praised the Kohima event, highlighting the region’s strong affinity for K-Pop and expressing gratitude to all participants.
