Zubeen Garg’s ‘Sikaar’ set for September 20 release, promises a cultural cinematic experience

The much-awaited Assamese film Sikaar is all set to release on September 20, 2024. Produced by London-based Sam Bhattacharjee and Mitra Bhattacharya, and directed by Debangkar Borgohain, the film features a powerful narrative centered around the lives of tea plantation workers, particularly women, who endure severe hardships.

The film’s music is directed by Assamese icon Zubeen Garg, who also stars in a lead role as a young tea plantation worker. Urmila Mahanta joins him in the lead cast, alongside notable actors such as Adil Hussain, Siddharth Sharma, Antariksh Saharia, Dhyani Mohan, Jatin Khanikar, and Sanjeev Buragohain.

“Sikaar”, scripted by Bishnujyoti Handiquy, was shot in both Assam and London, offering a unique blend of cultural authenticity and international appeal. The film highlights the struggles and resilience of the plantation workers, with an ensemble cast bringing this emotional story to life.
