The Indian Army, in collaboration with the Manipur Police, CRPF, and BSF, launched an extensive 48-hour operation across Manipur, leading to the recovery of substantial arms and ammunition in Churachandpur and Kangpokpi districts.
On September 11, 2024, acting on specific intelligence, security forces recovered one 7.62mm AK-series assault rifle with a magazine, three medium-sized improvised country-made mortars (Pompi), and other war-like materials in the Maulsang area of Churachandpur district.
The following day, in a joint operation in the thickly forested area southwest of Shejang in Kangpokpi district, the Army, along with the Manipur Police and BSF, seized a modified M-16 rifle, a 7.5-foot country-made rocket, a large country-made mortar, ammunition, and additional war-like stores.
All recovered items have been handed over to the police for further investigation and disposal.
