The Working Committee of Naga National Political Groups (WC NNPGs), led by N Kitovi Zhimomi, reaffirmed its stance on February 17, stating that the “Agreed Position” with the Government of India is clear and unambiguous. The group emphasized that the agreement recognizes the “historical and political rights of the Nagas” while balancing contemporary realities. This statement follows recent comparisons by the NSCN (IM) between the “Agreed Position” and the “Framework Agreement,” signed in 2015.
WC NNPGs criticized the Framework Agreement for allegedly disregarding historical events, including the 1951 Naga Plebiscite and the declaration of Naga independence on August 14, 1947. The group accused NSCN (IM) of overlooking these milestones and questioned the agreement’s vague references to “shared sovereignty.”
The committee urged the Naga public to examine both agreements thoroughly, stressing the need for a transparent and informed understanding of their differences.
