Vi has launched the ‘Vi Number Rakshak’ initiative

Leading telecom operator Vi has introduced the ‘Vi Number Rakshak’ initiative at the MahaKumbh, aiming to help reunite separated pilgrims. The initiative provides Rudraksh and Tulsi bracelets engraved with emergency contact numbers, offering a simple yet effective solution to a recurring challenge at the religious gathering.

Every KumbhMela witnesses thousands of lost individuals, with over 70,000 cases reported in 2013 and 250 cases recorded within the first few hours this year. With millions expected to gather for the ShahiSnan at TriveniSangam, Vi has set up a dedicated booth near Swami RamanandAcharyaShibirAkhada to distribute these bracelets, especially benefiting elderly pilgrims and children.

Vi has also strengthened its network infrastructure by deploying 30 new sites, 40 additional macro and small-cell sites, and 32 km of fiber to enhance connectivity. Vi’s Chief Marketing Officer, AvneeshKhosla, emphasized, “We are committed to ensuring seamless connectivity and safety for pilgrims through innovative solutions like Number Rakshak.” Telecom retailers in Shillong have observed increased demand for Vi’s network services among pilgrims traveling to the Kumbh. The initiative has boosted consumer confidence, with travelers opting for Vi’s enhanced connectivity for uninterrupted communication at the mega event.
