Vi has partnered with Samsung to enhance its 4G and 5G network capabilities. This collaboration, which has been in the works for the past 12-18 months, has centered around deploying Samsung’s virtualized Radio Access Network (vRAN) solutions in key regions across India.
The initial network trials in Chennai yielded promising results, prompting Vi to extend Samsung’s vRAN deployments to Karnataka and Bihar. These initiatives have enabled Vi to meet its 5G Minimum Rollout Obligation (MRO) in these regions, utilizing the innovative NSA vRAN architecture. Jagbir Singh, Chief Technical Officer at Vodafone Idea Limited, highlighted the significance of this partnership, stating, “We are proud to demonstrate our leadership in next-generation radio solutions (vRAN) that deliver enhanced experiences to our customers with better Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). This deployment, driven by Samsung’s innovation, aligns perfectly with our technology transformation roadmap and enriches our vendor ecosystem.”
Samsung’s vRAN technology offers Vi unparalleled flexibility, scalability, and resource efficiency. It ensures robust network performance across 5G, 4G, and 2G spectrums, positioning Vi at the forefront of telecom innovation and customer satisfaction.
