The Somsai Battalion of Assam Rifles, under the Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South), organized an Army Ex-Servicemen (ESM) interaction program at Headquarters 10 Sector Assam Rifles in Somsai, Ukhrul. This initiative brought together 39 veterans from the Ukhrul and Kamjong districts, reinforcing the enduring relationship between current troops and the veteran community in Manipur’s hill regions. Led by the Deputy Inspector General of Headquarters 10 Sector Assam Rifles, the interaction facilitated direct engagement with veterans. Discussions focused on various topics, including pension issues, medical assistance, documentation help, ECHS facilities, and grievance redressal mechanisms. All concerns were documented with a commitment to timely resolution. Notably, Hony Capt James Shimrah, a retired veteran aged 82 and the senior-most attendee from the 14 Assam Regiment, honored the event with his presence, epitomizing the legacy of service and inspiring younger generations. The program promoted trust and camaraderie, while underscoring the significance of veteran welfare in enhancing community ties during a critical time for Manipur. It effectively united veterans and serving personnel in a shared endeavor to promote unity and mutual support.
