The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) has announced the eighth edition of the North East Graduate Congress (NEGC) 2026, set to take place from March 26 to 28, 2026, at the USTM campus. This event was unveiled during a media conference in Guwahati, where organizers provided insights into what is anticipated to be a significant gathering for thousands of undergraduate students from colleges and universities throughout Northeast India. The NEGC is recognized as the largest graduate conglomeration in the region, serving as an engaging platform for young individuals to engage with prominent academicians, educators, industrialists, entrepreneurs, and national youth icons.
The three-day event is designed to empower aspiring youths through various competitions, knowledge sessions, and interactive platforms focused on developing leadership skills, creativity, innovation, and career preparedness. Participants can look forward to an extensive array of literary, cultural, creative, and sports competitions, including quiz contests, debates, photography, on-the-spot painting, and business ideation, thus fostering a competitive spirit among students with attractive cash prizes for winners in different categories.
A standout feature of NEGC-2026 will be the Bollywood Night, featuring esteemed performances from artists such as Madhubanti Bagchi, Aditya Narayan, Dharmesh Yelande, Lou Majaw, as well as the One North East Music Festival and Hillphonic, promising to add a lively cultural dimension to the event. Furthermore, the NEGC will host several special sessions and panel discussions that center around themes of youth development, entrepreneurship, personality growth, and emerging career opportunities.
Another key highlight of the Congress will be the prestigious Zubeen Garg Fellowship, established to honor exceptional young talents from the region and to motivate them in their creative, academic, and leadership endeavors. This fellowship aims to inspire the youth of Northeast India to strive for excellence and contribute positively to society, embodying the NEGC’s focus on innovation, cultural pride, and social responsibility.
