Dimapur’s Commissioner of Police upheld the prohibition on firecrackers, highlighting the importance of environmental safety and community health. The advisory emphasizes the dangers of fireworks. Fireworks not only destroy the environment, but they also cause tremendous distress to humans and animals. Fireworks will be permitted from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. during Diwali and other celebrations. However, for Christmas and New Year’s Eve, the authorized period is 11:55 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. The Commissioner’s Office stated that only low-emission firecrackers are permissible. To maintain regulatory compliance, licensed merchants can only sell these specified varieties.
According to the recommendation, fireworks should not be let off within 100 meters of silent zones, which include hospitals, schools, courts, houses of worship, and other designated areas. The Commissioner has stated that anyone who violates these restrictions would face legal penalties. Meanwhile, the Wokha Unit held its Annual General Meeting on Sunday in Wokha Town. The meeting was chaired by T Rencemo Kikon, President of the ANTA Wolkha Unit. The President began the proceedings by welcoming all members to the annual general meeting and presenting several important subjects for debate and approval.
