Unexploded mortar bombs found in Manipur’s Haraothel area

Manipur Police recovered two unexploded mortar bombs in the Haraothel area of Kangpokpi district during their ongoing search and area domination exercises in the state’s vulnerable hill and valley regions.

The discovery comes amid heightened security measures aimed at ensuring the safe movement of vehicles and maintaining law and order. During similar operations conducted across various districts, police successfully facilitated the movement of 67 vehicles along NH-37 and 273 vehicles along NH-2, both critical routes for essential supplies. Security convoys have been deployed in sensitive areas to guarantee the safe passage of vehicles.

In a state-wide crackdown, police set up 103 checkpoints across different districts, leading to the detention of 212 individuals for various violations. The operation in Mark hill, Kangpokpi district, also yielded a significant haul of arms and ammunition, including an AK-47 rifle, an HK-33 rifle, a triple barrel rifle, a .22 rifle, and various other weapons and ammunition. Additionally, police recovered a HE-36 hand grenade, a Motorola radio set, bulletproof jackets, and other military gear.
