ULFA (Independent) Reshuffles Central Committee, Issues Statement

In a recent statement, the United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) [ULFA-I] announced a significant restructuring of its central committee, following the dissolution of its existing organisational councils. This decision was unanimously made by the group’s leadership, led by Chairman Paresh Asom, who emphasized the necessity of such restructuring in the current context. The organisation has dissolved its supreme, senior, and junior councils to adapt to this new organizational framework.

The central committee has been reorganized under a newly established structure, with key appointments including Paresh Asom as Chairman and Michael Asom as Vice Chairman. Parama Asom has taken the role of Cultural Secretary, while Maitri Asom has become the General Secretary. Additional appointments include Milton Asom as Organisational Secretary, Colonel Minati Asom as Women’s Welfare Secretary, and Manik Asom as Assistant Finance Secretary. Furthermore, various other members have been assigned responsibilities across different sectors like public health, publicity, cultural affairs, agriculture, shelter development, finance, and organisational management.

The statement, which Paresh Asom signed, conveyed that this decision was reached after thorough consideration by the group’s leadership. As of the current date, there has been no response from security services regarding this announcement.
