Turkish Airlines has partnered with Google to introduce a next-generation baggage locating experience, becoming a launch partner for Google’s new Find Hub “share item location” feature. The collaboration forms part of the airline’s ongoing digital transformation strategy aimed at improving baggage recovery efficiency and enhancing passenger experience across its global network.
Under the initiative, passengers travelling with a Find Hub-compatible tracker tag or network accessory attached to their baggage can generate a secure location link through the Find Hub app and share it with Turkish Airlines baggage representatives. The system enables airline teams to receive precise and updated location data, helping them locate and return misplaced or delayed luggage faster. Passengers remain in control of the process as links automatically expire after seven days, sharing can be stopped at any time, and the system disables access once the item is detected back with its owner. All shared location data remains encrypted to protect passenger privacy.
Turkish Airlines Ground Operations Vice President Mehmet Yıldırım said the airline continues to invest in data-driven digital technologies to improve the end-to-end travel experience. Google Vice President of Engineering Erik Kay noted that Find Hub leverages an open ecosystem and a crowdsourced network of more than one billion Android devices to help users locate lost items worldwide.
In Kolkata, such digital baggage tracking solutions could strengthen airline competitiveness among international carriers serving eastern India. With growing outbound travel demand from Kolkata, improved baggage recovery systems are expected to enhance customer confidence and influence airline choice.
