The Thadou Students’ Association – General Headquarters (TSA-GHQ) has issued a robust condemnation of three individuals—Lamminlun Singsit, Lungoulen Guite, and Kamchon Kipgen—whom they accuse of impersonating legitimate Thadou leadership under the guise of the “Thadou Inpi Sadar Hills” (TI-SH). The TSA asserts that these individuals have been engaging in unlawful activities by sending coercive WhatsApp messages to George L. Thadou, the recognized president of TSA Sadar Hills, demanding his presence at their location, which the TSA characterizes as acts of electronic harassment and intimidation.
The press release highlights that these actions fall outside the bounds of legal authority, constituting significant attacks on the constitutional rights of the Thadou community as outlined in Articles 14, 19, and 21. The TSA expressed concern that this harassment not only inflicts emotional distress but also threatens Thadou autonomy and identity. They claim that the three figures are deeply entrenched in the anti-national “Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU)” in Kangpokpi, which has been promoting a separatist agenda for a “Kuki-Zo Union Territory.” These individuals have allegedly been involved in inciting chaos in Manipur since the ethnic violence that erupted in 2023, engaging in actions that glorify militant movements and propagate division among tribes.
The TSA condemns the misappropriation of Thadou identity by these individuals, asserting that their actions aim to pollute a distinct tribal heritage recognized since the 1956 Presidential Order. Additionally, they allege that these instigators are responsible for the violent disturbances in Kangpokpi, which include arson, shutdowns, and public clashes that hinder peace and national unity.
Reinforcing their stance, the TSA has demanded the immediate registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against the accused for intimidation and harassment and called for thorough investigations into their affiliations with CoTU and their roles in recent violence. The association has insisted on dismantling any fraudulent entities that exploit the Thadou name for anti-national purposes and has requested urgent protective measures for TSA leaders amidst escalating threats.
In concluding their statement, the TSA reaffirmed their commitment to peace, education, and constitutional governance while rejecting the divisive tactics employed by the accused. They assert that the Thadou community will not yield to intimidation or allow their identity to be usurped, insisting that authorities must take decisive action against these separatist figures to restore justice and uphold national integrity in Manipur.
