Kishor Barman, who was sworn in as a cabinet minister on July 3, was given three portfolios by Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Friday, including higher education. In a statement, Tripura Chief Secretary Jitendra Kumar Sinha stated that the Tripura Governor has given Barman the three departments with immediate effect, following the Chief Minister’s recommendation. According to the notification, Barman was placed in the General Administration (political), Higher Education, and Panchayat departments. Previously, the chief minister retained control of all three departments.
After receiving three key departments, Barman, the former state general secretary of the ruling BJP, expressed his happiness and thanked the chief minister for assigning them. “I was given the chance to contribute to the welfare and education, as well as the advancement of the residents of the Gram Panchayats. Working with people and promoting their well-being has always been a passion of mine,” the minister said.
