On January 29, 2026, the Government of Tripura honored Shija Hospitals and Research Institute Pvt. Ltd. during the inaugural ceremony of the 36th Tripura Industries and Commerce Fair at the Hapania International Fair Ground in Agartala. The award was presented by Dr. Manik Saha, the Chief Minister of Tripura, with Santosh Shekhar, the General Manager of Shija Hospitals, accepting it on behalf of the organization. This recognition was bestowed in acknowledgment of Shija Hospitals’ significant contribution to the economic development of Tripura, particularly in promoting industrial growth, generating jobs, and boosting investor confidence within the state.
The Government of Tripura highlighted Shija Hospitals’ sustained engagement as a crucial factor in fostering the State’s investment landscape and supporting its vision for inclusive, resilient, and sustainable development. On November 5, 2025, Shija Hospitals took a monumental step by laying the foundation for a 700-bed Shija Super Specialty Hospital in R K Nagar, Agartala. This multi-speciality facility is planned to be constructed in four phases over nine years, aiming to drastically decrease medical migration and enhance regional healthcare self-reliance. The new hospital, combined with an associated academic ecosystem, underscores Shija’s dedication to compassionate care, collaborative growth, and delivering affordable quality healthcare to all citizens.
Additionally, Shija Hospitals has made significant strides in education and training initiatives in Tripura. The kidney transplant team from Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) received comprehensive training and practical experience at Shija Hospital. Continuing Medical Education programs centered on reconstructive techniques, trauma management, and post-burn rehabilitation were held at TMC and AGMC, fostering valuable knowledge sharing among healthcare practitioners. Moreover, in conjunction with AGMC, the Shija transplant team successfully completed five kidney transplants within the state.
