Tributes paid as 74th birth anniversary of poet AK Seram observed in Bangladesh

The 74th birth anniversary of poet A.K. Seram was celebrated in Bhanubil, Bangladesh, organized by the Manipuri Library & Research Centre. The event featured the ceremonial presentation of the “Leichombam Rajendro Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award 2026” to Manipur’s Yaiskul Khwairakpam, alongside a display of 42 literary works by A.K. Seram. Two new books were launched: “Thammoigi Manin” by Ayekpam Anju and “Bangladeshki Leimaida” by Umabati Athokpam. Distinguished attendees included notable literary figures such as Khoirom Kamini and Rakesh Naorem, who underscored Seram’s significant role in advancing Manipuri language and culture. Ayekpam Anju, in her keynote, highlighted Seram’s literary contributions, with over 40 published works recognized through various accolades in Bangladesh and India. Rakesh Naorem noted Seram’s impact among the Manipuri/Meitei community and announced plans to transliterate three of his works into Meitei Mayek script. The event concluded with tributes acknowledging Seram’s lifelong dedication to Manipuri literature and society.
