TREDA has announced the installation of more than 10,000 solar-powered pumps

Over 10,000 solar-powered pump sets have been established by the Tripura Renewable Energy Development Agency (TREDA) to guarantee irrigation in rural agriculture under the PM Kusum initiative. According to a statement made by an official on January 15, TREDA has already installed 3,616 solar power pumps, benefiting 3,616 marginal farmers by putting 7,232 acres of agriculture under guaranteed irrigation. While efforts have been made to install 2,264 solar-powered pump sets as soon as possible, work has been underway to build 5,051 pump sets.

According to him, the TREDA will offer subsidies under the PM Kusum plan to any farmer who lacks a water supply for irrigation. According to Sukladas, 3,616 of the 10,895 solar-powered pumps that were intended to be built have already been put in place, ensuring irrigation for 3,616 marginal farmers’ 7,232 acres of farmland. According to Sukladas, the program offers subsidies to aspiring farmers.

“Out of the Rs 1,39,000 overall cost, a potential farmer will only need to spend Rs 10,000 for a one horsepower (HP) pump. Out of the Rs 1,77,528 total cost, a farmer only needs to contribute Rs 15,000 for 2 HP, he stated. “This will ensure irrigation for at least 25 years which will increase the agriculture production and the farmers don’t need to pay electricity bills,” he stated when discussing the scheme’s advantages.
