Training Programme on Bio-Fortified Rice Varieties Organised in Tawang

A day-long capacity building training and interaction programme with farmers of Tawang on bio-fortified rice varieties under the NEH Programme was successfully conducted at Zomkhang Hall in Tawang on Monday. The programme was organised by KVK Tawang in collaboration with ICAR- Indian Institute of Rice Research, Hyderabad Telangana. Keertika Kashyap, DDC, NABARD, Tawang graced the programme as chief guest, while Nawang Chonzom, chairperson, Tawang Green Farmers Producer Company, attended as guest of honor. Other dignitaries present included Dr. C. N. Neeraja (Principal Scientist, NEH, ICAR-IIRR), Dr. Jyoti Badri, Dr. Kalyani M, Dr. Veerendra Jaldhani; Tashi Lungtan (ADO), and Jambey Tenzin, general secretary, Kisan Morcha, Tawang. Farmers were sensitized on bio-fortified rice varieties suitable for hilly regions and their nutritional and agronomic benefits. The programme commenced with lighting of the lamp and a welcome address by Dr. Anjanand Tripathy, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK Tawang, and concluded with input distribution—including bio-fortified rice seeds developed by ICAR-IIRR, Hyderabad.
