Train Fares To Increase Across Country From July 1

The Railway Ministry issued an official circular on Monday raising non-AC class prices in mail and express trains by one paisa and all AC classes by two paisas per kilometre from July 1. On June 24, ministry officials suggested the anticipated fare change. However, the official circular containing fare tables per train and class category was issued on Monday. In order to accommodate everyday commuters, suburban train prices and monthly season tickets have remained unaltered.

Ordinary second-class fee has not been changed for journeys up to 500 kilometers, but ticket rates for distances beyond that have increased by half a paisa each mile.

From July 1, travelers in ordinary sleeper and first class will have to pay an additional half paisa per kilometer for rail travels.
