A torch rally was staged at Khurai Lamlong in Imphal East district today, where protesters vehemently condemned a recent drone attack allegedly carried out by Kuki militants. The rally was organized in response to drone bombings in Koutruk and other areas of Imphal West, which resulted in the death of one woman and injuries to over ten others. The demonstrators expressed deep anguish over the escalating violence and criticized both the state and central governments for their perceived failure to protect civilians.
Participants in the rally voiced their frustration, accusing the authorities of not only failing to address the ongoing crisis but also allowing the conflict to intensify, despite it having dragged on for more than a year.
Chanting slogans such as “We condemn the killing of innocent people,” “Take action against those involved in drone bombing,” and “Remove central forces,” the protesters called for immediate and decisive action to restore peace and safeguard lives and property.
