Turkish Airlines has announced a strategic partnership with Samsung to launch the Smart Tagged Baggage Service, a digital innovation that allows passengers to seamlessly track their luggage using Samsung’s SmartThings Find technology. Starting December 1, travellers flying with the world’s most globally connected airline can monitor baggage equipped with Galaxy SmartTag, enabling faster and more accurate tracking in cases of delay or misplacement. Passengers can also upload photos of their bags in the SmartThings Find app to aid quick identification.
With this collaboration, Turkish Airlines becomes the first airline globally to implement SmartThings technology for baggage tracking, strengthening its digital transformation efforts with a passenger-first mindset. The airline also plans to expand SmartThings-based location services across future customer-centric digital offerings.
Turkish Airlines Chief Information Technologies Officer Kerem Kızıltunç said the partnership reflects the carrier’s leadership in aviation digitalization, while Samsung’s Executive Vice President Jaeyeon Jung highlighted the company’s focus on expanding SmartThings Find across industries.
Travel industry analysts in Kolkata believe the service will enhance confidence among international flyers who frequently travel via Istanbul for business and leisure. Local tour operators expect the improved tracking system to appeal particularly to high-value customers, reducing travel anxiety and offering smoother global connectivity from the Kolkata market.
