The Trinamool Congress (TMC) launched a vigorous critique of the state government and the Congress during a party meeting at Natya Mandir in Pathsala, aimed at the upcoming elections. Assam TMC Vice President Dulu Ahmed reported that over 15 Congress leaders, denied party tickets, are resigning to join TMC for the elections. The meeting included Rajya Sabha MP Sushmita Dev, who discussed election strategies and oversaw a candidate joining program. Ahmed expressed concern over the unsolved murder of Assamese singer Zubeen Garg, asserting that approaches to the Chief Minister would be ineffective due to perceived indifference towards public issues. Dev revealed plans to run a candidate in the Bajali constituency, with Kalyani Kalita as a potential nominee. Ahmed urged TMC members to confront Congress member Rakibul Hussain, emphasizing necessary actions before praising him. He further condemned Rekibuddin Ahmed and announced his candidacy for the Chamaria constituency. Additionally, Dev conveyed frustration over the government’s failure to return Zubeen Garg’s ashes for immersion in the Barak River despite ongoing appeals.
