Three women cricketers and one support staff member from Meghalaya will represent the North East Zone in the Senior Women Inter-Zonal One-Day Trophy 2026, organized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in Bengaluru. The tournament will take place at the BCCI Centre of Excellence, featuring six zonal teams: North, South, East, West, Central, and North East Zones. The North East Zone team will be captained by Debasmita Dutta from Meghalaya, alongside teammates Rubi Chettri from Ri Bhoi district and Daiaka Warjri from Mairang. Additionally, Darishesha Mawroh from Shillong has been appointed as the Strength and Conditioning coach for the squad. Notably, the North East Zone’s roster comprises players and support staff from six states: Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, and Sikkim. While most states are represented by two players each, Meghalaya distinguishes itself with three players and one S&C coach. The support staff composition includes diverse regional representation, featuring a head coach from Sikkim, an assistant coach from Manipur, a physiotherapist from Arunachal Pradesh, and a video analyst from Mizoram. This selection not only underscores individual talents from Meghalaya but also signifies a significant milestone for the region’s cricket scene, reflecting the increasing involvement of players and professionals from the state in enhancing women’s cricket in the North East.
