The State Government has instituted a three-day State Mourning from February 22 to 24 to honor the memory of Vungzagin Valte, the MLA of the 56–Thanlon Assembly Constituency, who recently passed away in Gurugram after a prolonged illness. An official order from the General Administration Department, under the Governor’s direction, stipulates that during this mourning period, the National Flag will be flown at half-mast on all government buildings where it is regularly displayed. Additionally, there will be a cessation of official entertainment activities throughout the State during these days of mourning. Furthermore, the order mandates the Director General of Police, Manipur, to perform full Police Honours at the funeral, reflecting the State’s respect for the late legislator’s contributions to public service.
