The India Meteorological Department has warned of rainfall in Assam this winter

Rainfall is expected in Assam this winter, according to a warning from the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Ten regions are predicted to be affected by the rain, which might cause disruptions to daily life. Nagaon, Karbi Anglong, Hojai, Sribhumi, Hailakandi, Dhubri, Goalpara, Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, and South Salmara are among the districts that would be impacted. The IMD predicts that rain will start to fall today, which will likely affect these areas. The temperature will briefly dip, as is usual in winter, but the rain could cause issues, especially in low-lying and flood-prone places.

In the meantime, Assam Police created an educational video earlier this month that emphasized the need of road safety in light of the festive picnic season and the challenges posed by winter fog. The advise emphasized important safety precautions for driving in inclement weather and for leisure trips. In order to keep everyone safe during the outings, travelers were urged to make sure that the driving duty was delegated to a sober person.

Weather-based travel planning was also urged, with a strong warning against going when it was foggy or raining a lot. To lessen the risks associated with poor visibility, the police had also suggested that travel be limited to daytime hours, starting after sunrise and ending before dusk.
