The Dimapur Railway Station is going to be transformed into a top-notch establishment

The first week of March is when officials want to start transforming the Dimapur train station into a top-notch facility. NFR authorities, the district administration of Dimapur, state transport officials, and representatives of civil society met in the Deputy Commissioner’s office to coordinate the decision. The over-century-old railway station’s redevelopment was postponed mostly due to land-related concerns. The central government has approved Rs. 283 crore for the upgrading of Dimapur station, which has been shortlisted for the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.

The contract to upgrade the station has already been awarded, and work is scheduled to begin shortly within the current fiscal year, according to Nilmani Brahma, Chief Engineer of NFR in Guwahati. It is anticipated that the project will be finished in three years. Public collaboration is required, according to Brahma, and locals shouldn’t erect unauthorized buildings on railroad property since this could impede development. The NFR has also been approved to double the railway track that runs through Dimapur between Lumding and Furkating in Assam. The issue of railway land encroachment was discussed during the meeting, according to Deputy Commissioner Tinojongshi Chang. The administration and civil society will collaborate to confirm and resolve the difficulties so that the station may be renovated.
