The CII Foundation announced the Woman Exemplar Award 2023 winners at the CII Annual Session. The Award recognizes grassroots women leaders from rural and resource-poor backgrounds who are promoting social change in their communities in the areas of Health, Education, and Micro-enterprise. Smriti Irani, Minister for Women and Child Development and Minority Affairs gave the award in a ceremony attended by top officials from the government, Indian industry, the social development sector, and the media.
The Awards were given to Pushpa Shukla from Raipur in Education, Zohmangaihi from Aizawl, in Health, and Archana Gokul Mane from Osmanabad, in the Micro-enterprise category. Each winner received a trophy, a certificate, and a cash award of Rs 3 lakh.
Zohmangaihi from Aizawl, Mizoram was diagnosed with HIV at a young age and was ostracized from society. She resolved to help others and has transformed the lives of over 19000 HIV+ patients in the region. Her tireless work has brought medical care, counseling, and a sense of dignity to thousands of people living with HIV.
