Electric vehicle (EV) maker Tesla has held talks with the Indian government, exploring the possibility of bringing its auto parts and electronics chain to India and getting allocations and tax breaks in the process.
The US-headquartered electric vehicle maker has shown interest in bringing its own supply chain ecosystem to India, even as the government asked the company to assess the existing auto-component supply chain in the country, the Economic Times reported on July 13.
After meeting Prime Minister Modi during his visit to the US last month, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said: “He (PM Modi) really cares about India because he is pushing us to make significant investments in India, which we want to do.”
