Team ‘Cloud 9’ from Imphal West, Manipur, has been selected as one of the top 20 semi-finalists in Samsung India’s flagship CSR programme, ‘Solve for Tomorrow’ 2024. Represented by 51 students nationwide, the semi-finalists will participate in an exclusive Innovation Walk at Samsung Offices and R&D Centres.
The third edition of ‘Solve for Tomorrow’ saw entries under themes such as ‘Community and Inclusion’ and ‘Environment and Sustainability.’ Notably, participants hail from diverse and remote regions, including East Khasi Hills in Meghalaya and Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh. “Samsung’s ‘Solve for Tomorrow’ empowers students to tackle real-world challenges with technology. We are thrilled to see significant participation from remote areas, reflecting our commitment to inclusivity,” said SP Chun, Corporate Vice President, Samsung Southwest Asia.
Prof. Preeti Ranjan Panda from IIT-Delhi expressed enthusiasm for the regional talent, anticipating a boost to the startup ecosystem from the inspiring ideas presented.The semi-finalists will receive grants and Samsung products to develop their prototypes. Winners in the school track will be crowned “Community Champions” and receive a seed grant of INR 25 lakh, while the “Environment Champions” in the youth track will secure INR 50 lakh for incubation at IIT-Delhi. Launched in the US in 2010, ‘Solve for Tomorrow’ now spans 63 countries, engaging over 2.3 million young participants globally.
