Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and the Department of Electronics, IT, BT, and Science and Technology, Government of Karnataka, have announced the opening of registrations for the 24th edition of the TCS Rural IT Quiz program, which is a part of the Bengaluru Tech Summit 2023. This quiz program is open to students from Class 8 to 12 residing in smaller towns and districts across India.
The quiz will feature a mix of online tests, virtual, and physical quiz shows, focusing on the application of technology in various sectors and aspects, including the technology environment, business, people, and emerging trends. It will also cover the impact of IT in areas such as banking, education, entertainment, multimedia, music, movies, internet, advertising, sports, gaming, social networking, and mobile technology.
The competition will comprise eight Regional Finals held across India, with winners from each region earning invitations to the National Finals in Bengaluru in November. Regional winners and runners-up will receive gift vouchers of Rs 10,000 and Rs 7,000, respectively. The National winner and runner-up will be awarded TCS education scholarships of Rs 100,000 and Rs 50,000, respectively. Additionally, all Regional and National finalists will receive prizes.Interested students can register for the quiz program on the provided website link before the deadline on September 21.
TCS has been organizing the Rural IT Quiz since the year 2000 in collaboration with the Government of Karnataka’s Department of Electronics, IT, BT, and Science and Technology. The primary objective is to enhance IT awareness among students in smaller towns and districts across India, keeping them informed about the latest developments in the technology world. To date, the program has reached over 20 million students and holds recognition in the Limca Book of Records as the first IT Quiz for rural students in India.
