India’s largest IT services firm TCS on Sunday said it has sacked 16 employees and banned six vendors in connection with a “recruitment scam”.
“Our investigation involved 19 employees… 16 employees have been separated from the company for code of conduct violations, and three employees have been removed from the resource management function,” the company said in a statement in the evening.
It also added that the six vendors, their owners and associates have been “banned” from doing any business with TCS.
In late June, reports surfaced of a “recruitment scandal” at the largest software exporter, where vendors tasked with some of the functions were alleged to have engaged in misconduct by colluding with TCS employees.
The allegation came to know within weeks of K Krittivasan taking over as the company’s chief executive and was his first major challenge.
“The issue relates to violations of the company’s code of conduct by certain employees and vendors of contractor suppliers,” the statement said.
TCS said the investigation showed that none of the key managerial staff of the company was involved, and added that it was not a fraud against the company. It has no financial implications, it added.
