Tata Motors CV sales accelerate in January, market momentum strengthens across segments

Tata Motors Limited reported a strong performance in the commercial vehicle (CV) market in January 2026, with total domestic and international sales rising to 41,549 units, marking a 29.9 per cent year-on-year growth compared to 31,988 units in January 2025.

Domestic sales accounted for 38,844 units, up 29.1 per cent from 30,083 units a year earlier, while international business recorded a sharp 42 per cent growth at 2,705 units. Segment-wise data showed Heavy Commercial Vehicle (HCV) truck sales rising 41.2 per cent to 12,691 units, while Intermediate and Light Commercial Vehicle (ILMCV) truck sales grew 33.5 per cent to 7,071 units. Small commercial vehicle (SCV) cargo and pickup sales increased 29.5 per cent to 14,520 units, though passenger carrier sales remained largely flat at 4,562 units, marginally lower than last year.

Domestic MH&ICV sales stood at 19,676 units in January 2026 compared to 15,137 units a year earlier, while combined domestic and international MH&ICV sales increased to 20,792 units from 16,076 units.

In Kolkata, continued infrastructure spending, steady goods movement through eastern logistics corridors and rising demand for last-mile delivery vehicles have supported healthy CV demand, reflecting broader market resilience in the region. Part of the USD 180 billion Tata Group, Tata Motors operates across India and key global markets. Following the NCLT-approved composite scheme, the company’s name was changed to Tata Motors Limited with effect from October 29, 2025, and its equity shares were listed on BSE and NSE from November 12, 2025.
