In a significant move to bolster its creative and digital economy, the Nagaland government has established a task force to promote the Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics, and Extended Reality (AVGC-XR) sector. The task force will focus on developing a comprehensive policy framework to foster the growth of this innovative industry in the state.
The decision was made during a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Dr. J Alam, along with representatives from at least 12 stakeholder departments, including Higher Education, Finance, Information Technology, Planning & Transformation, Law & Justice, and Industries & Commerce. The newly formed task force will not only draft policies but also explore avenues to attract investments and partnerships in the AVGC-XR sector. As part of the initiative, a state-level steering committee on AVGC-XR will also be constituted to provide strategic direction and monitor progress.
The AVGC-XR sector is a rapidly expanding area of entertainment and technology that integrates traditional creative content like animation and comics with cutting-edge immersive technologies, including Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Mixed Reality (MR). Its applications range from video games and movies to educational tools, training simulations, and interactive experiences.
