The IndiaSkills Competition 2024, organized by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), has seen an impressive turnout with Tamil Nadu leading the pack with 86 participants. This is followed by Odisha (64), Karnataka (61), Punjab (53), and Haryana (47). The event, held at Yashobhoomi in Dwarka from May 15 to May 19, features around 900 candidates showcasing their abilities across 61 trades.
The competition includes both onsite and offsite events in states like Karnataka, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Gujarat, leveraging the best infrastructure available. Participants are competing in trades ranging from Wall and Floor Tiling to Cloud Computing and Autonomous Mobile Robotics. Additionally, nine exhibition skills, including Drone Filming and Textile Weaving, are featured.
Keynote speakers highlighted the importance of the competition in promoting skill development and economic growth. “IndiaSkills is a celebration of skill’s intrinsic worth in shaping our future,” said Shri Atul Kumar Tiwari, Secretary, MSDE.The event also hosted panel discussions on workforce competitiveness and industry-academia partnerships, with participation from leading companies and educational institutions. Winners will advance to the WorldSkills Competition in Lyon, France, in September 2024.
