Steve Jyrwa from Shillong wins ‘India’s Best Dancer’ Season 4

In a groundbreaking win for Meghalaya, Steve Jyrwa from Nongmynsong, Shillong, clinched the title of “India’s Best Dancer” Season 4, bringing home a Rs 15 lakh cash prize and a new car. The 17-year-old dancer’s choreographer, Raktim Thakuria, was awarded Rs 5 lakh. Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma praised Jyrwa’s achievement on social media, sharing, “Steve Jyrwa danced his way into the hearts of India and is now the champion of ‘India’s Best Dancer’! Congratulations, Steve, may this be the start of many more achievements.”

Jyrwa wowed judges Karisma Kapoor, Geeta Kapur, and Terence Lewis, standing out for his high-energy footwork and dedication. Karisma Kapoor applauded his journey, stating, “From his first performance, Steve captured our attention with incredible talent and raw energy. He has set a new standard with his livewire performances.” Reflecting on his win, Jyrwa said, “Winning ‘India’s Best Dancer’ is a dream come true. The journey was challenging yet immensely rewarding.”

Jyrwa’s success is celebrated by Meghalaya’s arts community, with his mother, Bibi Jyrwa, expressing gratitude for family support despite financial challenges. The All Meghalaya Dancers Association’s President Bah Kitbok Thabah has also called for more government support for talented youth from disadvantaged backgrounds.
