Splash during Holi celebrations Dhekiajuli with colors

The town of Dhekiajuli came alive as its citizens celebrated Holi, the colorful holiday, with great zeal and traditional fervor. Community get-togethers, cultural performances, devotional rites at Satras and Naamghars, and the joyful splattering of colors were all part of the two-day celebrations, which reflected the state’s diverse cultural fabric. At Naamghars and Satras, where devotees congregated to partake in spiritual discussions and ask for blessings, the day started on Friday with a special Naam Kirtan.

In and around the various Satras and Naamghar of Dhekiajuli Co-District, a sense of calm and devotion was created by the recital of Naam Kirtan, or devotional melodies devoted to Lord Krishna. Many followers also followed customs related to Doul Utsav, a special Holi festival celebrated in the Vaishnavite culture of Assam. Ras-Leela performances at the Sirajuli Satra under the Dhekiajuli Co-District enthralled the faithful with scenes from Lord Krishna’s life.

Beginning in the early hours of Saturday, Dhekiajuli’s streets were crowded with individuals of all ages, all dressed in vivid colors. To show their solidarity and excitement, both adults and children splashed each other with colored water and coated each other with gulal, or colored powder. The joyful mood was enhanced by traditional music and dance performances, like as folk dances with Bihu and Holi themes. This year’s celebrations were genuinely unforgettable because of the combination of dedication at the Satras and Naamghars and the festive street color-play.
