Spear Corps GOC Launches Community Hall, Skill Centre at Heirok

Lt Gen Abhijit S Pendharkar, General Officer Commanding Spear Corps, inaugurated the Operation Sadbhavana Project, featuring a “Multipurpose Community Hall and Carpentry & Carving Centre” in Heirok Village, Thoubal District. The inauguration attended by officials, troops, ex-servicemen, and locals underscores a community commitment to progress and stability. The Multipurpose Community Hall, strategically located near the village playground, serves as a venue for social, educational, and athletic activities, equipped with modern amenities including a false ceiling and toilet blocks, promoting unity and community engagement. Concurrently, the Carpentry & Carving Centre aims to foster traditional craftsmanship, providing training and tools to empower local youth, particularly unemployed individuals and women, with skills and market access to enhance their livelihoods and cultural heritage. Lt Gen Pendharkar acknowledged the contributions of ex-servicemen in guiding the younger generation, and the event received enthusiastic support from community members, highlighting the project’s anticipated positive impact on local development and entrepreneurship.
