Cricket icon Sourav Ganguly has been appointed as Tripura’s tourism brand ambassador, Chief Minister Manik Saha announced on Tuesday.
The announcement came after Tourism Minister Sushant Chaudhary Ganguly met state officials at his residence in Kolkata and discussed the proposal.
The chief minister said he had also spoken to Ganguly over the phone and was confident that his participation in the campaign would be an inspiration to the state’s tourism sector.
“It is a matter of great pride that former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly has accepted the offer to become the brand ambassador of our Tripura tourism,” Saha said in a Facebook post.
