SMFG India Credit’s Pashu Vikas Day touches 1.55 lakh lives, sets Guinness Record in rural welfare drive

SMFG India Credit has concluded the 8th edition of its flagship rural outreach initiative, Pashu Vikas Day (PVD), reinforcing its commitment to inclusive growth and sustainable rural development. Held on February 14 under the theme ‘Sarvottam Seva: Pashu, Parivar aur Pragati’, the programme focused on livestock health, family wellbeing and economic progress in rural India.

Launched in 2014, PVD has evolved into one of the country’s largest one-day cattle welfare programmes. This year, the initiative was conducted across 16 states through 510 SMFG Gramshakti branches, positively impacting over 1.55 lakh lives. Around 1.4 lakh cattle were treated, while healthcare support was extended to more than 14,000 people, benefiting over 30,000 households.

In West Bengal, camps were organised at 32 locations, providing free veterinary check-ups, medicines, vaccinations and guidance on improving milk yield to over 12,000 cattle, benefiting about 1,600 households.

Commenting on the initiative, Managing Director & CEO Ravi Narayanan said the programme reflects the company’s belief that livestock health, family security and economic resilience are interconnected.

Over the years, PVD has earned recognition from the Limca Book of Records, Best of India Records, World Book of Records and World Records Union. In 2025, it also set a milestone with Guinness World Records for the largest simultaneous cattle welfare lesson conducted nationwide.
