Six Bangladeshi nationals arrested by BSF in Meghalaya for illegal entry

The Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya successfully intercepted six Bangladeshi nationals attempting to enter India illegally on February 23, as part of its ongoing anti-infiltration efforts. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, BSF personnel from the 4th Battalion apprehended four individuals along the international border in West Jaintia Hills district. In a separate operation, the 1st Battalion arrested two more individuals near the border in South Garo Hills.

Preliminary investigations revealed that some detainees had previously worked as masons in Basantpur, Mumbai, while a Bangladeshi woman had entered India for her husband’s medical treatment. Those arrested in South Garo Hills reportedly crossed the border inadvertently.

Following due legal procedures, all six individuals were handed over to local police authorities for further investigation and necessary action.
