Siliguri municipality took the initiative to play ‘Mahishasuramardini’ to the city residents in the morning of Mahalaya. Like last year, the well-known voice of Virendrakrishna Bhadra will be heard throughout the city from early morning. This initiative was taken by Siliguri Municipality in Mahalaya last year as well. ‘Mahishasuramardini’ was played in the neighborhood. Many people do not listen to ‘Mahishasuramardini’ early in the morning due to difficulty waking up or being busy with other work. The mayor said that this initiative is for thinking about them and so that there is a mood of puja in all corners of the city. This initiative of the municipality became popular last year. So this year also the same initiative has been taken.
Mayor of Siliguri Municipality Gautam Dev said that this year also the city residents will be able to listen to ‘Mahishasuramardini’. On the initiative of the municipality, microphones will be installed in different places of the city. Only a few days left for the puja. Preparations are in full swing. Siliguri Municipal Corporation and Siliguri Police Commissionerate have already held several discussions with various clubs and puja committees in the city. Discussions are going on about the puja crowd, security arrangements, puja permission, etc.
Apart from this, a colorful carnival will be organized in Siliguri this year as well. Which puja committees will participate in this carnival? A list has already been prepared by Siliguri Municipality and Siliguri Police Commissionerate. Carnival will be organized on October 14. Last year, all the major pujas of Siliguri participated in the carnival in Siliguri. Hill culture was also highlighted in this carnival. Siliguri Mayor Gautam Dev said that this year a more crowded carnival will be organized.
