Shringla highlights connectivity, tourism and investment implementation as key growth drivers for Northeast

MP Harsh Vardhan Shringla highlighted infrastructure expansion, enhanced rail connectivity and tourism-led investments as critical enablers of economic transformation across the North Eastern Region. He sought detailed updates from the government on the progress of projects under implementation, utilisation of central funds and the execution of commitments announced during the Rising North East Summit, stressing the need to convert investment pledges into tangible employment opportunities and sustainable development outcomes.

Emphasising the strategic importance of connectivity, Shringla noted that new railway links connecting remote parts of the Northeast with the rest of the country are strengthening integration, bringing markets closer and boosting trade, tourism and people-to-people ties. He also encouraged citizens to explore the Northeast’s vast eco, cultural and adventure tourism potential rather than travelling abroad.

Referring to the recent Northeast Investors’ Summit, he stated that investors had committed investment interests worth approximately Rs 4.3 lakh crore, signalling growing investor confidence in the region.
