On Saturday, the Manipur Police apprehended two extortionists, identified as Asem Nongpoknganba Meitei (alias Ngangoiba, 32) and Thangjam Gandhi Meitei (alias Yaima, 27), who are active cadres of the UNLF, in Wangkhei Ayangpalli, Imphal East district. Their arrest resulted in the recovery of a pistol, two magazines with 16 live rounds, and a mobile phone. Additionally, Laishram Monish Singh (alias Tom, 23), an active cadre of KCP (Nongdrenkhomba), was arrested at his residence in Khagempalli Pankha Nganapi Thong Mamang, Imphal West district, with a mobile phone seized from him. In response to security concerns, ongoing search operations and area domination measures were conducted throughout various districts, with 115 Nakas/Check points established to enhance security. Although no detentions occurred, the movement of 254 vehicles carrying essential items along NH-37 was facilitated, while strict security protocols were enforced in vulnerable areas to ensure the safe passage of vehicles.
