Authorities have announced revised school hours, postponing the start of classes by an hour for all schools in Kamrup (Metro) district from today due to the prevailing cold weather. An official order issued by Axum Sarba Siksha Abhijan Mission, Kamrup (M) stated that In view of the prevailing cold weather conditions, and keeping in mind the health and safety of students and as per direction received from the District Commissioner, it has been decided to reschedule the class timings of all government and private schools in the district with effect from 07-01-2026 to 13-01-2026.The revised school timings for primary schools are 10 am – 1:30 pm, for upper primary schools 10 am – 2 pm, and for secondary and senior secondary schools is 10 am – 2:30 pm.”This order is issued in the interest of public safety and student welfare. Any deviation from this order shall be viewed seriously.This order comes into force with immediate effect. All pre-scheduled examinations, if any, shall be conducted as per earlier notifications,” the order stated.
