Samsung launches DigiArivu to boost digital and STEM education in Tamil Nadu schools

Samsung India, in collaboration with the United Nations Global Compact Network India (UN GCNI), launched its new initiative ‘DigiArivu – Empowering Students Through Tech’ today, aiming to strengthen digital and STEM education across Tamil Nadu. The programme will benefit over 3,000 students in 10 government schools in Kancheepuram and Ranipet districts in its first phase.

Launched at The Anna Centenary Library in Kotturpuram, the initiative was inaugurated by Thiru Dr. Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, Honourable Minister for School Education, along with district collectors of Kancheepuram and Ranipet. DigiArivu will upgrade school infrastructure using Building as Learning Aid (BaLA) designs, introduce activity-based STEM learning, train teachers, provide sports kits, set up libraries, and offer career guidance for Class 12 students. Health awareness camps and community engagement events are also planned to ensure holistic development. SH Yoon, President of Samsung Chennai Plant, highlighted the programme’s focus on creating digitally-enabled learning environments to prepare students for India’s evolving digital economy. RatneshJha, Executive Director of UN GCNI, called it a strong example of public-private collaboration in advancing the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

In Kolkata, Samsung’s initiatives resonate strongly with the city’s growing interest in tech-driven education. Local education stakeholders have welcomed DigiArivu as a benchmark for digital literacy programs, potentially inspiring similar collaborations in West Bengal’s tier-2 and tier-3 districts.

Beyond DigiArivu, Samsung continues to expand its Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC) in Tamil Nadu, training 5,000 students this year in high-demand future-tech skills like AI, IoT, and Big Data to enhance employability.
