Sahitya Akademi Award Goes to Dr Nalini for Kanglamdriba Eephut

The Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, has announced the recipients of the “Sahitya Akademi Award 2025,” recognizing twenty-four distinguished litterateurs across India. Dr. Nalini Haobam has been awarded for her Manipuri short story collection “KangLamdriba Eephut,” which previously earned the “Yendrebam Surlata Purushkar Award 2020.” The award celebrates achievements in various literary forms, including poetry, novels, and short stories, with selections made by a jury of three experts for each language. The award includes a cash prize of one lakh rupees, a copper plaque, and a shawl, with the ceremony scheduled for March 31 in New Delhi.

Dr. Haobam, born in 1956 in Imphal, has published ten books, including her latest poetry collection “Nungsi Thoiba” (2025). She has received multiple accolades for her contributions to Manipuri literature, such as the “Rajkumar Mahavir Singh Khorirol Mana” (2022) and “Dineshwori Sahitya Mana” (2022). Her works, including “Sana Manik” (1985) and “Mayai Chanba Yug ta Hindu Dharma gi Ethil” (2020), are featured in academic curriculums at various universities.

An accomplished educator, Dr. Haobam has taught at several institutions and served as an Associate Professor at DM College of Teachers Education. She holds multiple degrees, including an MA and a PhD in Manipuri. As a life member of various literary organizations, she remains active in promoting Manipuri literature through her writings and participation in literary events.
