‘Run Chandel Run’ Marathon Taken Out with Enthusiasm

Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the District Sports Association Chandel and Wisecabs, successfully organized the 5th edition of the “Run Chandel Run” marathon under Operation Sadbhavana, highlighting themes of fitness, sportsmanship, and community unity. Senior officials, alongside troops, participated with approximately 1,500 entrants in this vibrant celebration. The marathon featured multiple race categories designed to encourage wide participation, including a 5 km race for participants below 16 years, an open category with distances of 5 km and 10 km, and a separate 5 km race for adults above 45 years.

The 10 km race commenced from Heibunglok Village, while the 5 km races began at Thoruwl Turf, all concluding at the District Sports Complex in Chandel Christian Village. The event was flagged off by senior officials of Assam Rifles at Pallel Garrison. To foster engagement, the first 500 registered runners received event T-shirts, and every finisher was awarded medals and certificates. Winners in various categories were honored with cash prizes, wherein the champion of the 10 km Open Category received a reward of ₹10,000. Additionally, comprehensive medical, administrative, and technical support was provided to ensure the event’s smooth and safe execution, as detailed in a press release from IGAR(S).
