Rohit Sharma is angry with the channel that broadcasts the IPL. On Sunday afternoon, he vented his anger towards ‘Star Sports’ in a post. Rohit claims that, despite the ban, his speech was recorded and played on TV. On Sunday afternoon, Rohit X wrote on the handle, “Cricketers’ lives are now so intruded upon that cameras are recording their every move and conversation. Secret conversations with friends and teammates in training or on match days are being broadcast.”
Rohit added, “I requested Star Sports not to record the conversation. Yet they did it and played it on TV, which is a breach of privacy. The obsession with showing off, ‘views’, and ‘engagement’ has grown so much that it will one day break the trust between fans, cricketers, and cricket. I hope that good wisdom will emerge soon.”
Rohit’s post is due to two videos. The first was before the KKR match at the Eden Gardens. Rohit was talking to Kolkata Knight Riders assistant coach Abhishek Nair while training at the Eden. Hardik Pandya was captured by Mumbai. A defiant Rohit was heard saying, “Everything is changing. Anyway, the team was made by me. This is my home. I have built this temple.” After that, Rohit said, “I don’t care; this is my last year.”
Last Friday, Mumbai’s last match in the IPL was against the Lucknow Super Giants. Rohit and Dhabal Kulkarni were talking before that match. It was being video recorded. Rohit immediately folded his hands and pleaded, “Brother, don’t record the conversation.” A video made my life miserable.”
